I was looking for a phone app that would identify bird song.

 

I have a de-Googled phone, so it needed to be one I could install from an APK package.

And of course, it had to be free.

Geeqie is a great application for viewing photos.

 

Its easy to display photo data (e.g. EXIF) and even chose how & what you want to display.

Gimp: Trim photos for required Aspect Ratio

I generally trim my photos for what I consider to be the best composition.

 

So I end up with a photo collection of odd shaped rectangles.

But sometimes it is necessary to trim them to a pre-defined aspect ratio, maybe for publication.

But once a month, Radio Caroline North transmits from the Ross Revenge.

How can you receive these broadcasts if you are not within a reasonable distance of the transmitters?

Firefox Developer Tools: a simple example

I don't use Developer Tools very often, so its a bit of a struggle remembering how to use them when I do.

 

Therefore this is a handy reminder to me (as much as anything) on how to make & test some simple edits.

At last they have a new transmitter offering more power and better audio quality.

So its expected to improve reception, both in Caroline's target area and beyond.
