I think motion has an option to run a program/script on detect. This could send a message to the Client (monitor). Maybe your code on the client (e.g. Python) could then switch tabs on Firefox to view the appropriate page (e.g. 192.168.0.10:8081 or 192.168.0.11:8081).

I probably wont bother with a motion switch. If I'm lucky enough to have two boxes occupied I'll probably make a simple Gambas GUI app so I can select options to switch my HiRes/HiRate streams, such as: view Box 1 or view box 2, or auto (display 1 to 60s then 2 for 60s), view both (side by side). I view these HiRes/HiRate streams on VLC, and I think that you can run 2 instances of VLC by de-selecting "use only one instance" from preferences. Not sure if I have the wifi bandwidth, although my box Pis are reporting a data rate of 150Mb/s (those Edimax dongles are fantastic).

I think detecting motion on 2 live HiRes/HiRate streams might be a bit processor intensive, even for a PiB2 client. But worth experimenting with.SteveDeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10645378028590228663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8042569099194536366.post-3964679465561243982015-03-25T22:22:52.267+00:002015-03-25T22:22:52.267+00:00I like the screen idea - I may pinch that one ;) ...I like the screen idea - I may pinch that one ;)
If you had multiple BirdCam Pis, could you use a motion detect event to trigger an MQTT message to your DisplayPi to show the 'active' stream?... in that way you could dynamically switch the visible stream depending on which one was active?NestBoxTechhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17596961979586589583noreply@blogger.com
